Special Issue on: "Virtual Reality to Support Learning"

Guest Editors:
Prof. Charles Xiaoxue Wang and Assistant Prof. Michele Garabedian Stork, Florida Gulf Coast University, USA

In recent years and among the many smart technologies applied for learning, Virtual Reality (VR) has certainly become one of the most popular. In this Special Issue with the theme VR to Support Learning, we define VR as any technology that provides its users an interactive computer-generated experience through text, audio, visual, spatial and/or speed messages within a simulated environment that engages its users in multi-sensory interactions and reactions for learning. By this definition Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR), or Hybrid Reality are included.

With this broad definition of VR, we call for manuscripts that (1) report individual and collaborative efforts and results in VR research projects; (2) examine systematic uses of VR to facilitate learning and instruction in different fields; (3) discuss theoretical concepts, pedagogical implications, ethics and policies relating to VR uses; (4) describe the synthesised VR landscape to reveal current trends and development issues related to VR applications and research. Other manuscripts covering VR-related topics are also cordially invited. If you have any questions about the topic relevance, please communicate with the Guest Editors (details below).
